My first Mother's Day-Granna came to town to see our new place and to be here for Mother's Day. This was the first time she visited us up here on a weekend and did so in order to go to church with us. She loved it and afterwards, we both stopped by a table on the way out and picked up a couple new kids, sponsor children from World Vision! (Your daddy and I have been wanting to sponsor a child for a while now and Mother's Day seemed the perfect day to start. We selected a seven year old boy from Uganda, Dimitiliya, who lives with his parents and siblings. Child sponsorship can = orphan prevention in many countries. I have had a burden on my heart for orphans and the hungry since having you and reflecting that you (and us) have all you need and even want while so many others do not even have the basics.) We've already started praying for him everyday and I hope you grow up knowing and caring about Dimi through the years through letters, etc. Who knows, we may even visit him one day...
After church we went to Firebirds for lunch where you thoroughly enjoyed playing, people watching and eating cheesecake (oh my!) in the highchair. After that, it was out to the fountains for some pictures.
Daddy then enjoyed a three hour nap while Granna and I played with you and went and bought you and Rylee a toy, just for fun. FYI, Daddy's going to get some quality time with you on Father's Day so I can have that three hour nap, too;)
Swimming-We met some friends for an afternoon dip and you took right to the water. You especially loved standing on the edge of the pool and splashing, something I'd been trying to teach you every night in the bath but you seemed to ignore. I am so excited to take you swimming a lot this summer and share one of my favorite hobbies with you. Many of our friends have already offered to have us join them at their pools that have walk-in shallow areas and things for babies.
Walking, slow and steady! At nine and a half months, you are a steady walker, can get up and down by yourself and even move around corners and from room to room-look out! You have to wear shoes everywhere we go! Here's pics and video to prove it:
Seeing the birds: I bought this plant and a birdfeeder for our patio and the birds have been flocking to it, obviously and you have watched them some.
Having your own room-'bout time! The first few nights we were here you slept like a champ, 12 hours w/out waking up. Then we had company and you graciously gave up your room for a few nights. You enjoy playing in it and looking at yourself in the closet-covered mirrors.
Birthday party- We went to Angelina's 1st birthday. You were the youngest baby there and the only one walking...they were all impressed=) The birthday girl must have been watching you, though, because the very next day she picked up the skill, too. This got me thinking about planning for your party and wanting badly to go to FL for your cousin, Matthew's, 1st birthday in a few weeks; so, the next night we booked a flight!!! This will be fun for many reasons, of course, but special because I was not able to be there in person to celebrate Matthew's birth this time last year, since I was 8 months pregnant.
Foods-some of your recent favs. are pears, graham crackers, string cheese, cheerios, apple juice/water frozen pops, cheesecake!
Top teeth-your gums are bulging white and you've been up at night in pain, with fevers and had really hard times falling asleep for naps where we've resorted to getting in the car for you to fall asleep there a couple times. Today I saw blood on your shirt and realized it came from your bleeding top gum:0 It literally made my chest hurt to see what pain you were in and made me imagine you as a boy one day with blood on your shirt from playing hard outside, instead.
Here's a few more pics of you with some friends:
I love you, my little boy.
