Thanksgiving
has been synonymous with Cairo, GA for my past ten years and your daddy's whole
life. But Great Grandma Tyus passed away last year, so the tradition has
shifted to one that would still make her quite happy, I think. This year we
drove to daddy's Aunt Linda and Uncle Jeff's house, south of Atlanta, where a
lot of the Tyus family plus some from the Summers side enjoyed the meal and day
together. There were so many people that some of us ate at an extra table
on their front porch next to a beautiful fall backdrop of color in the warm
air-such a peaceful, great spot to enjoy a meal!
Speaking
of the outdoors, we had a good taste of it on this trip and lots of fun with:
bonfires, petting horses and horseback riding, 4 wheeling, hunting, swings,
front porch rockers, and basketball!
About the only things we did indoors was eatJ, sleep, follow you up and down the stairs, watch a couple
movies and many episodes of Duck Dynasty.
It’s an entertaining show of Louisana rednecks that have become
millionaires off of their duck callers.
The Summers were concerned we might feel like we’d jumped into the show
with all our entertainment choices around their house, but we assured them we
didn’t want to do big city attractions but exactly what we were doing!
Your favorite part! Have this as my screensaver and you point and make a horse noise every time you see it.
Daddy's pretty cousins.
While you were sleeping
You loved this, especially looking at the picture of it later!!
Aunt
Linda made the 8 layer chocolate cake, strawberry-pretzel salad and turkey
dressing that Grandma Tyus always did and they were D-licious (along with the
homemade fried chicken, smoked ribs, chicken kabobs, traditional Thanksgiving
dinner and many other homemade yummies over our stay). Everyone was so sweet with you in their own
way: Aunt Linda and Jessica played with you a lot and took you to see the
horses, Savannah played with you on the stairs, Kevin and AJ shared their toys
with you (their old cars and their 4 wheelers and dirtbikes) and Uncle Jeff
went out with Daddy at 2:30am to get you cough medicine and a humidifier when
you woke up sick and raspy! They were
all so sweet, even calling you nicknames like, “Lil Egg” and “Little Noah.” It
made my momma heart happy to have so many people doting all over youJ
We
all had an absolutely wonderful and relaxing time-which is saying a lot when
you’re talking of traveling with a toddler!
The Summers have a beautiful home and land and made us feel right at
home. Linda and Jeff are such godly
people and each of their kids is a delight to be around. I was grateful for so many things, of
course, but mostly for having such great family and the time to spend with
them.
Love you,
Mommy
Love you,

This is a nice post. I didn't know you all had so much fun outdoors stuff to do up there. Dave must have been in heaven, and it looks like Noah is getting started early on enjoying the country. We'll have to pull out all the stops when you come here next time to make him want to come visit us. And I like the picture of you on the horse. You look good.
